Hi all I am looking for an apartment that will exist safe and in a more progressive expanse (yes I'd like hipsters sitting around drinking mushroom coffee as neighbors equally much as possible). I will be working in Reading and traveling to Philly on weekends. I am a single thirty yr one-time female with no children. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the suggestion of Phoenixville; it was on my radar. I'd like the commute, if possible, to be no more than than xxx (ish) minutes. It looks similar Phoenizville is about 47 min. I also have no idea what the traffic is like from Phoenixville to Reading during rush hour so I'one thousand wondering if that would be factor also. I've considered your suggestion. Jeanie Beanie, of living in Reading and just keeping the long drive for the weekend. I'g all the same trying to see if I tin observe that sweet spot that offers me the all-time of both worlds though. I've only been to the new job for the interview and will not offset til July. I have non consulted with anyone there yet but will effort to reach out.

Phoenixville is definitely a expert option for what y'all're looking for in terms of access to Reading and Philly and the "hipster" scene. Some other option that comes to mind is Downingtown, further south. It's petty more "upwards and coming" past comparison to Phoenixville, merely new (decidedly "hip") places seem to continue popping up, and a bonus is train admission to Philadelphia for your weekend jaunts. That borough has more than arts and crafts breweries and brewpubs per capita than any other in the Greater Philadelphia region. Plus it has a arts and crafts distillery on its principal drag but up from all the brewpubs. Actually, if you wanted to, yous could find a community a little to Phoenixville's west and buy there. Only problem with that is you'd then have to watch your drinking.

I concur with Jeanie Beanie. West Reading is definitely a hipster place these days, and a comfortable daily commute will make your life much more than enjoyable!

And for full disclosure, I really moved to Philly after living in Reading for three years because I thrive in big cities and Berks County was only too sleepy. The commute is TERRIBLE (1.25 hours each style), but worth it to me since I don't have a v-24-hour interval-a-week schedule.

Reading is its ain island. Unless you live in Reading, your commute is going to suck. Also, if you live in Reading, getting into Philly regularly is going to suck. Others have already mentioned the two obvious compromises, but I experience there's a third one that's off-the-radar: Downingtown - Getting into Philly via train is easy, getting into Reading will be more often than not highway (via the turnpike) but time consuming. There are backroads that are cost-free and more-straight, but they're unsafe to the indicate that I turn down to bulldoze them at night (lots of drunk drivers, in my experience), and that route usually takes just-as-much time. Downingtown has no hipster-scene though. Phoenixville - more often than not 422 into Reading, so that's not terrible. Information technology is one of the more hipsterry Philly suburbs. Boyertown - It has a hipster-vibe (antique stores, independent businesses, etc) but not many hipster residents. Google says it's 35 minutes into Reading and 1hr 10min into Philly. However, at that indicate, y'all might every bit well be living in Reading itself though. With all that being said, I'chiliad non certain if whatever compromise is actually practical. I agree that the best bet is probably to try Reading itself for a yr.
